The Part Two test is the practical driving exam that you will face on the road to becoming an ADI. In effect this is an extended driving test with the candidate and examiner taking a one hour test and performing all of the manoeuvers and road types (including motorways) that you would be expected to teach as an ADI. There is very little margin for error. A maximum of 6 minor faults are allowed.


Part Two: The driving test

This is the practical part of the test, which begins with an eyesight test where you will be asked to read a standard number plate at a distance of 27.5 metres (90 feet).

Your practical test will then take place during which you will be asked to show the examiner that you have a thorough knowledge of the principles of good driving and road safety in practice.

As part of this test you will be asked to carry out an emergency stop. You will also be required to carry out all of the following low speed manoeuvres on the test:

• Turn in the road

• Reverse into a road on the left

• Reverse into a road on the right

• Reverse parking either into a parking bay or behind a parked car

The test will last for approximately one hour and the routes will include all types of roads including dual carriageway and motorways. The training we will provide you with to complete your part two is as follows:

You will receive up to 20 hours practical training for this part of your course with an experienced fully qualified driving instructor.

You will drive all the major test routes used in your final examination, whilst being instructed in the correct use of the driving system expected on your test.

You will then be able to discuss any issues that you have at the end of the session to take forward to your future driving lessons.
